Clarkes Information

Clarkes is a small residential area near Elsie's River in the City of Cape Town, conveniently located between Cape Town International Airport, Bellville and the city centre. Part of the diverse northern suburbs, the neighbourhood offers visitors a practical base from which to explore the many attractions of the Mother City. Its central position provides easy access to major transport routes, making it well suited to travellers who wish to experience Cape Town's cultural, natural and historical highlights.

Although Clarkes is primarily residential, several notable attractions are close at hand. The nearby Tygerberg Nature Reserve is a haven for nature lovers, protecting one of the last significant remnants of endangered Swartland Shale Renosterveld. Its walking trails offer excellent birdwatching and sweeping views of Table Mountain, Table Bay and the surrounding peninsula. GrandWest Casino and Entertainment World is also only a short drive away, offering restaurants, family entertainment, live performances and leisure activities. Cape Town's vibrant city centre, the V&A Waterfront and the beaches of Milnerton and Bloubergstrand are all easily accessible.

Like many surrounding suburbs, Clarkes developed as Cape Town expanded during the 20th century, reflecting the city's rich cultural diversity and evolving urban landscape. Today, it combines suburban convenience with excellent access to nature reserves, entertainment venues and many of the Western Cape's most celebrated attractions.
