Zwakala River Retreat is situated on a privately owned farm in the beautiful Magoebaskloof Mountains, just north of Haenertsburg in the Limpopo Province. Our array of accommodation includes cosy self catering cottages, a guest house and a private camp site located next to a tranquil river in the mountains. We also have a charming old fashioned farm venue ideal for weddings and other creative gatherings. Zwakala River Retreat is a perfect place to chill and get away from the stress of city life. Our self catering accommodation is simply beautiful and in some of the accommodation we have chosen not to have electricity. Instead we believe that the simplicity of candle light and lamps, steaming hot water from a donkey boiler and a 'lekka' fire make for romance, talking, dreaming and togetherness. For those of you who need electricity, our newly renovated Farm House and Barn House are connected. We are very privileged to live on this little piece of Africa and would like to share with you a slower pace of life. Come and meet our three horses, six dogs, flock of sheep, when they are home, our three children and usually some more friends. Things to do on the farm include: Swimming in the river. Situated between Haenertsburg and Tzaneen, hidden amongst the pine plantations in the beautiful mountainous area of Magoebaskloof this picturesque farm on a privately-owned estate boasts horses, a magnificent dam stocked with trout as well as 2 Luxury self catering units, The Stables and The Loft. The Stables is a luxury, double-storey self catering guest house which is intimately positioned between the horse stables and paddock. It has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom and comfortably sleeps 4 persons. It is not suitable for children under the age of 6. The Stables has a cosy country atmosphere which has been created using a combination of warm textured fabrics and personally collected antiques, some with a history from the area. The Loft is an exclusive romantic hideaway, perfect for honeymooners or those celebrating an anniversary or special occasion. It is a luxuriously appointed suite hidden in the pine forest overlooking the dam. Please note that children cannot be accommodated in this unit.
