Built in 1905 by Sidney Herbert Adley during the "Ostrich Feather Boom" this magnificent sandstone Victorian home was bequeathed in 1948 to the orphans of the second world war, Mr/s Mc Morran tended 16 Polish orphans until until they completed high school in the early sixties. Purchased in 1989, it underwent an extensive restoration and finally opened as a bed & breakfast in 1994. Pieter and Hilda Retief manage Adley House personally. As true South Africans and residents of Oudsthoorn for over 38 years, they are here to give you a warm "Oudtshoorn welcome" and also to assist in anyway possible to make your stay in Oudtshoorn as memorable as possible.

Our accommodation is only 12 km from the Cango Caves in Schoemanshoek. We also offer Family, normal and self cater accommodation near Oudtshoorn. We are a working ostrich farm situated at the foothills of the Swartberg Mountains in Schoemanshoek, just 14 km on your way from Oudtshoorn to the World Famous Cango Caves. Watch as we farm with ostrich chicks and fully grown ostriches in season. Enjoy lunch and dinner in our a la carte Restaurant with a spectacular view of mountains, gardens and the Grobelaarsriver that crosses our farm. It is a historic building with the Old Mill still inside the Restaurant. Approx. 150 years old. The farm obtained its name from the old mill. All the wheat from the valley was milled on the farm. At that stage there were hundreds of mills all over the country. In Oct. 2003 Christo & Doret Spies changed the old building into an a la carte Restaurant. The Restaurant is open daily. We also offer the facilities for conferences and wedding functions. The venue has a spectacular view of our farm and the foothills of the Swartberg Mountains, near Oudtshoorn. We supply internet service, screens, telephone & fax service, sound systems, a slide and photocopying service and full secretarial and administrative support for your conference. We have 40 4-star rooms to accommodate the guests and also an A la Carte Restaurant or Buffet Restaurant to choose from to have lunch or dinner. We are only 15 km from Oudtshoorn and 12 km from the Cango Caves.
