There is a cosy lounge area with fireplace and a fully equipped kitchen with a huge antique dining table brought out by the garrison that was stationed in Harrismith after the Boer War. It is an ideal opportunity for de-stressing in utmost tranquillity and peace, and the renewal of family ties that will forever be fondly remembered. The picturesque setting of this self catering accommodation outside Harrismith allows for idyllic days of birding (120 species), bass fishing and canoeing. It also offers imaginative opportunities for mountain biking and long walks and climbs, and the discovery of some small game sighting gems. The latter abounds on the farm. An otter family splashing in the water, mountain reedbuck wandering down to water occasionally and fish eagles calling reminds one why Africa is so special. Whilst the hunting and mating calls of jackal, and the nocturnal sounds of birds make the campfire (traditional lapa) experience under our stunningly clear sky unforgettable. The large man made lake provides for several recreational options. No charge for either fishing or the use of canoes, but please bring own life jackets. A proper bass-dinghy powered by battery can be hired on site.
