Pearl Guest House

Pearl Guest House offers 3 self catering accommodation options in the quiet area of Donkerhoek, approximately 20km east of Pretoria.

"Pearl" derives from the German word "Perlhuhn," ( pronounced pell:hoon ) which is a guinea fowl. Direct translation - English : pearl chicken ; Afrikaans : pêrelhoender.

Pearl Guest House lies 20 km east of Pretoria, in Donkerhoek close to Rayton and Cullinan. We are near the N4 highway and several popular wedding venues and function/conference centres.

The guest house is situated on a portion of the original farm Kleinfontein which was owned by David Botha, the Pioneer who built the Pioneer Museum homestead in 1846 in Silverton Pretoria. The vegetation is typical highveld open savanna dominated by Sweet Thorn trees ( Acacia Karroo ).

Our guest house consists of one family room open plan and one en-suite room:

Pearl Family Room is an Open Plan unit, with a double bed and two single beds, also up in the loft area another two single beds, sharing a bathroom.  It also has a open plan kitchenette which is fully equipped with a fridge , microwave and coffee station, a "stoep" /patio with table and chairs Weber braai on request. DSTV and free Wifi.

Our Studio Room has a king-sized bed (or two single beds), a full en-suite bathroom, a small sitting area, DSTV and free Wifi a fridge and tea- and coffee-making facilities.

Both Pearl Family Room and Studio Room have separate entrances and their own patios overlooking the garden or swimming pool with a peaceful bushveld view towards the Bronberg.

Here you can relax before/after a wedding, conference or other event, or just come for a relaxing break in the countryside.

We offer an "on the go" breakfast as an optional extra. You can enjoy this breakfast on the patio or take it with you when you leave.

Pearl Shack

We are very proud to introduce our newest addition, the Pearl Shack.

This is a 280 square meter unit, it has 6 bedrooms, each decorated uniquely, with a double bed or 2 single beds, sleeps 12 total.

Completely off grid, with solar and gas (no worries about load shedding).

Large open plan kitchen with scullery, crockery, fridge, freezer, coffee station, 12-seater dining table and cosy sofas.

A HUGE, “Stoep,- kuier-area” – enclosed with all around glass  sliding doors, double indoor braai, 16- seater dining room table and comfy couches.

An outside boma-braai, surrounded with farm style grasslands, veld flowers and stunning aloe and succulent garden.

At Pearl Shack we love quirky, upcycle, repurpose, colour, artsy, rusty, and old. We created a home away from home – the walls were painted by hand to compliment the theme and you can choose between The Louvre, Jungle, Kalahari, Bo-ho, Botanical or Steampunk room – we have 2 large bathrooms with 6 showers (3 men & 3 ladies), 4 toilets (3 men & 2 ladies), 4 basins (2 men & 2 ladies).

You can book the Shack for any event – sleep-over on your way to a wedding, family get-togethers, kitchen teas, birthday parties, baby showers, bachelors and bachelorettes, game nights… we can cater, or you can bring your own snacks. Dinner and breakfast also available (please note pre-booking is essential).

Own entrance with patio looking onto the gardens and swimming pool.
